HOOVER, Ala. — Trader Joe’s has announced plans to open a new location in Hoover, Alabama, by 2025, marking the retailer’s second store in the Birmingham metro area. The new Trader Joe’s will be located at 1771 Montgomery Highway, taking over the former Bed Bath & Beyond space. City officials, including Mayor Frank Brocato, collaborated with the shopping center’s owner on an incentive package to secure the popular grocery chain, seeing it as a strong addition to the retail landscape in Hoover.
Founded in Pasadena, California, in 1967, Trader Joe’s has grown to more than 500 stores nationwide, known for its unique, private-label products, competitive prices, and commitment to creating a friendly, community-focused shopping experience. The company has established a loyal customer base with its curated selection of specialty items, many available exclusively in-store.
The new Hoover store is expected to draw shoppers from across the region, benefiting surrounding businesses and boosting foot traffic. Local officials view the new Trader Joe’s as part of Hoover’s continued growth as a retail destination, offering residents access to the store’s popular products, including its well-known wine selection, frozen meals, and global snacks. Located along the I-65 corridor, the site is positioned to attract a steady flow of customers, further strengthening Hoover’s position in the area’s retail market.
