MOBILE, Ala. — UAB women’s basketball plays at South Alabama at 1 p.m. CT Saturday at the Mitchell Center, in the 47th meeting between the schools.
Both teams are 1-0. UAB opened with a 77-67 win over Fisk on Wednesday at Bartow Arena, behind 29 points from Hailey Jackson and a game-high 15 rebounds from Ashley Garner. South Alabama opened with a 75-74 win at Akron on Monday, when Jaida Redwine’s layup with less than two seconds left lifted the Jaguars. C.J. Wilson led South Alabama with 20 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Head coach Randy Norton wants the Blazers to “defend and rebound” before Saturday, after UAB gave up 41 points in the first half against Fisk and was outrebounded early before Garner took over.
