HOOVER, Ala. — Additional charges have been filed against the suspect in the Oct. 30 shooting at the Riverchase Galleria, Hoover police announced Tuesday.
Reginald Ja’Ques Davidson, 19, of Birmingham, was initially charged with first-degree assault and second-degree theft of property after his arrest around midnight Oct. 31 on Avenue K in the Ensley area. Each of those charges carried a $150,000 bond.
On Tuesday afternoon, police issued two counts of attempted murder and one count of reckless endangerment against Davidson. Police said the attempted murder charges qualify for no bond under Aniah’s Law. The reckless endangerment charge carries a $30,000 bond. Davidson is being held in the Jefferson County Jail.
The shooting happened Oct. 30 in the mall’s food-court area. A 20-year-old man was shot in the arm and transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries; he has since been released. Police have said the fight that preceded the shooting appears related to a social media dispute and that the handgun Davidson fled with was determined to be stolen property. The victim’s identity has not been released.
