BIRMINGHAM , Ala. — A man was shot late Saturday night outside a Walmart Supercenter on Montclair Road, according to police. Investigators said the victim’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, and no arrest had been announced as of the latest reports.
Police responded around 10:21 p.m. to the store, where the shooting was reported in the parking lot area. Authorities said the investigation was ongoing and had not publicly identified a suspect.
The shooting comes amid continuing concern about gun violence in the Birmingham area, where city officials and police have pointed to a mixed crime picture this year. Birmingham police have said homicides are down significantly compared with the same period last year, even as other violent-crime concerns remain under close watch
