Trafford Man Sentenced to Life Without Parole for Child Sex Crimes

A Blount County man will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole after being convicted of horrific child sex crimes, marking a victory for advocates demanding justice and protection for Alabama’s most vulnerable.

Ronald Shane Crow, of Trafford, was sentenced by Circuit Judge Christopher Abel following convictions on multiple felonies including sexual torture, first-degree rape, several counts of sodomy, distributing drugs to a minor and indecent exposure. The victim, a child under age 12, was drugged, raped, sodomized, sexually tortured and abused in attacks described by authorities as some of the worst seen in the county.

The sentence includes life without parole for sexual torture and first-degree rape, along with 99 years for sexually abusing a child under 12, plus concurrent terms for other charges stemming from a pattern of abuse against the young victim. The case concluded with a swift verdict reached in under 15 minutes following a September trial, according to prosecutors.

District Attorney Pamela Casey praised the courage of the survivor and the community’s resolve, stating that the verdict sends a clear message about prioritizing child safety in Alabama. Advocates for victims’ rights applauded the sentence, urging continued reform and support to prevent future abuse statewide.
