HOOVER, Ala. — Two Hoover massage parlors were shut down Tuesday after police arrested the owner, capping an undercover investigation that has rattled the city.
Police executed search warrants at Lily Massage on Meadow Lake Drive and Angel Spa on Montgomery Highway, both sites named in complaints from residents over possible illegal activity. Investigators took Zhaohui Du Quin, 61, into custody on two counts of prostitution-prohibited activities. Quin was booked in the Hoover City Jail and was set to be transferred to the Shelby County Jail, with total bond set at $6,000.
Authorities said the probe began months earlier when local sources reported suspicions about activities inside the parlors. Officers gathered evidence before carrying out the simultaneous raids, forcing both businesses to close immediately and placing police tape at both locations.
Officials declined to discuss details on other possible charges or evidence seized, citing the ongoing nature of the case. No employees were charged at the time of the raids, but police signaled additional arrests could follow as their investigation continues. By Wednesday, the businesses remained closed, with all identifying signage removed and entrances locked.
This is one of the largest enforcement actions against local massage parlors in recent years and has renewed public debate over oversight of such establishments in Hoover. Law enforcement emphasized their continued focus on curbing illicit activities at area businesses.
