Woman Fatally Mauled by Pack of Dogs in Bessemer

BESSEMER, Ala. — Authorities are investigating after a 50-year-old woman was found fatally mauled by a pack of dogs in Bessemer, the second deadly dog attack reported in Central Alabama in three days.

Delores Mukerson Musgrove was discovered in an overgrown vacant lot near Martin Street and Norwood Avenue, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. She was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.

Investigators say Musgrove was likely attacked while walking nearby, suffering multiple fatal injuries from several dogs roaming the neighborhood. Police have not identified the breed or ownership of the dogs, and the investigation is ongoing. Animal control officers are working to locate and capture the dogs believed responsible for the attack.

This fatal mauling follows another deadly dog attack earlier this week, intensifying concerns over roaming dogs in the region. Authorities urge residents to be vigilant and report any stray animal packs as the probe continues into possible connections between the incidents.

No arrests have been announced, and officials have yet to indicate whether charges will be filed.
