MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Diageo, one of the world’s largest producers of alcoholic beverages, is investing $415 million in a new manufacturing and warehousing facility in Montgomery, Alabama. The 360,000-square-foot facility is expected to be fully operational by late 2025 and will bring significant economic benefits to the region.
The project is anticipated to create 750 construction jobs during its development phase and 100 permanent positions once the facility is up and running. The site will produce millions of cases annually of Diageo’s well-known brands, including Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, and Captain Morgan. Its strategic location in Montgomery is expected to enhance supply chain efficiency while reducing the environmental impact of transportation.
The facility will also incorporate advanced water and energy efficiency technologies as part of Diageo’s broader commitment to sustainability. The company has set ambitious goals to achieve net-zero carbon emissions across its operations by 2030.
In addition to the economic impact, Diageo has pledged $750,000 to support Alabama’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). This funding will provide scholarships and financial aid for students at institutions such as Alabama State University and Tuskegee University, further strengthening the company’s ties to the local community.
The investment underscores Montgomery’s growing appeal as a hub for global businesses and highlights Alabama’s ability to attract major corporations. The project is expected to contribute significantly to job creation, workforce development, and long-term economic growth in the region.
