Candy Manufacturer Plans $3.8 Million Expansion, 60 Jobs in Irondale

IRONDALE, Ala. — Sandblast by Creative Concepts Inc. plans to invest nearly $3.8 million in an expansion of its Irondale operation that could create 60 jobs, according to a report published Wednesday by ABC 33/40.

The project would expand the candy manufacturer’s existing operation at 1500 Georgia Road. Construction is expected to begin in December, with completion targeted for the end of 2029, the station reported. The company also makes interactive candy-dispensing systems.

The proposed investment totals $3.785 million. Projected annual payroll for the new positions would total about $2.71 million, or roughly $45,200 per job. That figure represents an average across the proposed positions, not a starting wage or a guaranteed salary for individual workers.

The report did not identify the types of jobs the company expects to add, when hiring would begin or how applicants could apply. The projected job count does not mean 60 positions are currently open.

The Irondale City Council was scheduled to consider about $384,761 in tax incentives for the project at its Nov. 4 meeting. The outcome of that vote was not confirmed in the reporting available for this story.

The investment, construction schedule and job figures remain projections rather than completed commitments.
