PELHAM, Ala. — The Pelham City Council on Thursday approved a development consulting agreement tied to the future of the former Oak Mountain Amphitheatre property, advancing the city’s ReAmp redevelopment effort.
The agreement authorizes Pelham to work with GenRev Properties during an estimated 180-day due diligence period to evaluate what can be built on the 43.77-acre site, according to the city and local news reports. Officials said the process will include engineering studies, market analysis, environmental reviews, financial planning and other investigations before any final development decision is made.
City leaders have said the agreement is not a final development deal and does not commit the city to a specific project. Any future development proposal would still need approval from the council before construction can begin.
Pelham launched ReAmp, short for Reimagining Oak Mountain Amphitheatre, after buying the property from Live Nation for $5.3 million in 2025. The site at 1000 Amphitheater Road was previously home to the outdoor concert venue, which was demolished after Live Nation shifted shows to Birmingham’s new Coca-Cola Amphitheater.
According to city materials and local coverage, the parcel includes only about 11.5 acres of developable land, with the rest constrained by features including Bishop Creek. The city said the consulting phase will help determine the financial and logistical feasibility of a project on the site.
Recent city updates and public discussions have described the project as a mixed-use redevelopment aimed at creating a destination that could include retail, dining, public gathering space and other amenities, while avoiding a replacement amphitheater. City officials have also said residential development is not part of the initial phase.
