BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Visual artist Jenny Fine, a native of Enterprise, Alabama, is showing “There, there,” a solo exhibition at The Old Bailey Gallery in Birmingham through early November 2025.
Fine’s work blends photography, immersive installations, and performance to explore themes of identity, memory, and the evolving relationship to photographs. This exhibition reimagines her prior New York show with added layers tailored for the Birmingham audience.
Born in 1981, Fine grew up in rural Alabama, where her grandmother—a teacher and artist—deeply influenced her creative vision. She earned a BFA from the University of Alabama and an MFA from The Ohio State University. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, earning her fellowships such as the South Arts State Fellowship for Alabama.
“There, there” invites viewers into an evocative experience reflecting Southern traditions, spirituality, and personal history through Fine’s distinctive visual and installation style. The show is open Sundays and by appointment, featuring artist talks and events that further engage the community.
Fine’s ongoing artistic narrative draws on Southern rituals and memory, transforming them into rich, complex stories that challenge simplified regional stereotypes while underscoring her continued connection to Alabama’s cultural landscape.
