Valley Post Set to Transform Chelsea With New Entertainment District

CHELSEA, Ala. — In a major step for Chelsea’s continued growth, the Valley Post entertainment district is scheduled to open in late 2025, bringing a slate of popular Birmingham-based restaurants and new community space to the fast-growing town east of Birmingham.

The development, located at 1012 Dunnavant Valley Road—site of the former TreeTop Family Adventure along the busy U.S. 280 corridor—will feature four beloved concepts from the Pihakis Restaurant Group: Hero Doughnuts, Rodney Scott’s BBQ, Luca (Italian), and Little Donkey, a popular Mexican spot most recently located in Greystone. Capstone Real Estate Investments has partnered with The Pihakis Restaurant Group to bring the six-acre project to Chelsea, with plans for indoor and outdoor dining, communal lawns, and an outdoor LED screen for movies, sports, and public events.

The Chelsea City Council designated Valley Post as an official entertainment district, allowing for open-container privileges within its boundaries and aiming to create a safe, walkable gathering place for the city’s growing population. Construction milestones this spring included groundwork for new outdoor amenities and restoration of the former entertainment complex, according to city records and developer statements. The project is designed by Chambless King Architects, with Rives Construction overseeing the build.

Chelsea’s population boom in the past decade has brought calls for new dining and family-friendly social spaces. The city—traditionally a quiet, wooded outpost in Shelby County—has recently seen substantial retail, school, and residential growth as more families move into the area. The Valley Post’s central location offers easy access to residents of Greystone, Mt Laurel, Highland Lakes, and Eagle Point as well as travelers along Highway 280.

The development is expected to generate significant new sales tax revenue for Chelsea, according to municipal estimates cited in the Shelby County Reporter. City leaders and developers hope the project’s mix of local restaurant brands, community event space, and walkability will make it a regional draw. “We want to enhance what is already happening here. PRG wants to place our ‘home-grown’ brands in the great communities that are outside of the immediate Birmingham area,” Pihakis Restaurant Group said in a press release distributed this month.

Valley Post is the latest sign of the city’s transformation. Once anchored by churches, small shops, and roadside attractions, Chelsea’s commercial core is evolving as residents look for more amenities close to home. Opening is slated for late 2025, pending construction progress.
