Gov. Kay Ivey Awards Grants to Support Crime Reduction and Community Aid in Birmingham for 2025

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Gov. Kay Ivey has announced new grants for 2025 aimed at enhancing public safety and supporting vulnerable residents in Birmingham and Jefferson County. Two Project Safe Neighborhood grants totaling just over $237,000 will be used to reduce crime in Jefferson County, with a focus on improving law enforcement resources and community safety initiatives.

Additionally, millions in aid have been allocated to help low-income residents across the region, providing critical support through programs like the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG). These funds are intended to help families meet basic needs and achieve greater stability.

The grants reflect the state’s ongoing commitment to crime prevention and economic assistance, with targeted investments designed to address both immediate and long-term needs in Birmingham for 2025.
