Amazon Bessemer Facility releases Statement about Upcoming Union Vote

Below is Amazon’s statement regarding its upcoming union vote:

A Recent Decision About the Past BHM1 Election

BHM1 team, on November 5, an administrative law judge issued a decision about a union election that was held at this site more than two years ago. In that election, and the one before it, the team here voted overwhelmingly to maintain a direct connection with Amazon, and we’ve been working hard ever since to keep listening to your feedback and working together to make BHM1 a great place to work.

While the decision yesterday correctly dismissed eight of the ten claims, the judge still said that there needs to be another election. We strongly disagree with that – the BHM1 team has already voted twice, and voted against joining a union both times. This decision is wrong on the facts and the law, and it’s disappointing that the union and the NLRB keep trying to force a third vote instead of accepting the facts and the will of our team members. We plan to appeal and will continue working to make sure that our team’s voices are heard.

The legal process may continue for a while, so we don’t know how long it will take. As a result, we don’t have any information about if or when a rerun election will take place, but we’ll keep you updated as soon as we know more. In the meantime, we’ll continue to focus on working together, directly with you, to make BHM1 a great place to work. If you have any questions or other feedback, please always feel free to reach out to your manager or any member of leadership at the site.
