LEE COUNTY, Ala. — In a Halloween-themed sting operation dubbed “Operation Trick or Tweak,” the Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrested 53 individuals in a sweeping crackdown on narcotics activity. Sheriff Carmine Marceno announced the operation’s success, which involved months of undercover work and surveillance to dismantle drug networks in the area.
The operation led to the seizure of significant quantities of drugs, including 4.5 kilos of cocaine, 553 grams of fentanyl, and 914 grams of methamphetamine, along with 22 guns and $58,000 in cash. Sheriff Marceno emphasized the operation’s impact, stating that it sends a strong message to drug dealers who “will think twice before dealing drugs like candy to our children”.
Among those caught up in the operation was Savannah Georgees, a warrant clerk at the sheriff’s office. She was arrested for allegedly tipping off suspects about impending searches, using social media to warn them to hide drugs. Her arrest highlights the challenges law enforcement faces in maintaining operational security during such investigations.
In addition to drugs and weapons, authorities confiscated vehicles and other assets from those arrested, turning “bad money” into resources for community initiatives. This large-scale operation underscores Lee County’s commitment to tackling drug-related crime and keeping communities safe.
