Two Injured in Center Point Shooting, Including Teenager

CENTER POINT, Ala. (Sept. 9, 2024) — Two people, including a teenager, were injured in a shooting in Center Point on Sunday night, authorities said.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of gunfire in the 1700 block of Center Point Parkway around 9 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

The teenage victim was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the second victim, an adult male, was treated at the scene and later released, according to officials.

Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. No arrests have been made, and the motive remains unclear.

The incident has raised concerns among residents and local officials about the rising gun violence in the area. “We are committed to ensuring the safety of our community and will be increasing patrols in the neighborhood,” said Sheriff Mark Pettway.
